- Why do I need to check the planning consent of a building I may want to use for my business?
- It is a requirement that buildings being used for commercial purposes have the correct planning consent for the type of business located in the premises. This is to ensure that the building is used appropriately depending on its location, size and surroundings etc. There are different planning classes e.g. Planning Class A1 means that the premises can only be used as a restaurant, pub, café etc or shop for the sale of hot food or Planning Class B1 means that the premises can only be used as offices. It is the responsibility of the business to check the correct planning consent is in place even if they do not own the building.
We can provide information about the different classes and put you in contact with the relevant people in Planning for an informal discussion. - « Top
