- Wigan Borough in Bloom - Neighbourhoods

The Council has recently adopted a neighbourhoods agenda to drill down to local level, listen to residents' concerns and increase community cohesion.  Teams work at a very local level with individuals and groups and are able to deliver tangible results on the ground.

Working in partnership with elected members, council departments and external organisations, we are delivering an annual programme of community engagement and participation.  This is improving community confidence and perceptions regarding the environment, anti-social behaviour and crime.

Area based council neighbourhood teams provide a dedicated front-line response to community priorities and local action plans.  Their focus includes operational cleansing and other street scene duties as well as problem-solving issues such as anti-social behaviour and environmental crime.

The team have developed a Neighbourhood in Bloom Tool Kit which offers guidance and specialist advice on how to enhance the local area.  "How to" leaflets, packed with useful tips have proven a massive success.
