- Wigan Borough in Bloom - Gateway Improvements

We are aiming to improve the quality of the entrance corridors into the borough by working with businesses and voluteers to achieve attractive road signs at the borders and welcoming displays of flowers on the roadside and on roundabouts.

Projects completed around the borough include:

• The historic mining wheel at Mosely Common
• The listed stocks at Winstanley
• The new gateway signage on Scholfield Lane between Atherton and Daisy Hill, with a small garden maintained by residents
• A new raised flower bed planted on Wigan Road in Billinge

The first major gateway improvement for 2009 is a wildflower planting scheme along the East Lancs (A580).
